Hello, we are Alan & Eric!

We are so thrilled to share a bit of our lives with you! We met in 2007 through a mutual friend in college and immediately bonded over a shared sense of humor. A few years after moving to New York in 2008, we began dating, and have been together for eight years and married for four! Even in the early years of dating, we knew we wanted to be parents. We both love kids and can definitely be found at family events playing on the floor with little ones instead of talking with the other adults. Once our conversation about starting a family became more serious, adoption felt like the perfect route for us. We currently live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and absolutely love our apartment and neighborhood. There are museums, theaters, restaurants, and parks and playgrounds galore!

We are so ready and excited to share our lives with your child, who will be undoubtedly be yet another source of joy and laughter!

We are both so lucky to be extremely close to our families. Alan’s parents live in Ohio, and his older sister, brother-in-law, and two nephews (Liam, age 4, and Ethan, age 2) live in Charleston, South Carolina. Eric’s family also lives in Ohio, including parents, two sisters and their spouses, and our niece (Olivia, age 3). Hello, we are Albert & John!

We went on our first date at the Natural History Museum during the summer of 2008 and we have been together ever since. From the beginning of our relationship, we both knew we wanted to adopt a child. Now that we are married and have a home of our own, we are ready to expand our family.  We live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with our five-year-old cat, Mitsie. John’s family lives in nearby Massachusetts and we spend many holidays with them. Albert’s family lives on the West Coast and we visit them every year and speak with them frequently. Our families are excited for the adoption, especially our young niece and nephew.

Our Lives

We love to spend time together as a couple and with our friends and extended family. We are looking forward to including our child in all of our activities. When at home, we watch movies, read, and play with our cat. In the evening, we enjoy having dinner together and walking along the East River. On the weekends we visit the local farmers market, spend time in Central Park, and take advantage of the museums, botanical gardens and everything else New York City has to offer. During Christmas and the summer, we enjoy spending time with our family in Massachusetts.

In the summer we also enjoy traveling when possible to explore new places and learn about other cultures. We have traveled together to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, and throughout the USA.

Both of our families raised us to value family and education and we will be sure to pass these values on to our child. Although our parents did not have the chance to go to college, they worked very hard so that we could. Albert studied biochemistry and then attended medical school, completed residency and a fellowship and is now an attending pediatric anesthesiologist. John studied Spanish and French and later completed advanced studies in Spanish literature and education and is now a Spanish and French high school teacher.

Our Family

We are both very close to our families. Although they don’t live in New York City, we get to see them often and talk on the phone weekly. During holidays and vacations we are able to spend more time with our families, much of which is spent around the table having family dinners. Children are also a big part of family time, as one of John’s sisters has a young son and daughter and another sister is expecting a baby in November.

In Conclusion

Thank you so much for considering us as adoptive parents. We can assure you that we will raise our child in a home full of love and laughter. We are excited for each phase of parenthood and for all the great memories we will create along the way. We are looking forward to meeting you and working with you along this adoption journey.

Hello, we are Andrea & Carl!

Hi there. We met on Valentine's Day in 2009 (easy to remember!). By our third date we knew there was no going back. Being a closet romantic, Carl proposed in Paris in January 2011 and we were married that July. Even though we were told we would likely not get pregnant, we welcomed our son Wyatt into the family in August 2012 (all 10.5 lbs. of him). And life has been an amazing roller coaster ever since! They say opposites attract, and you can truly see that with us, but that just means there is so much more we can show our child(ren). We easily do agree on the important things: values, education, work/life balance —and we embrace that parenting and being a family is always a beautiful work in progress. We now want to grow our family through adoption, like we always thought we would.

Andrea's Fun Fact
Andrea grew up in New England and has lived in Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, and New York, so we will always be a house divided on Patriots-Giants Super Bowl Sundays.

Our Lives

Our lives are a welcomed adventure. We work, we play, we make time for family, we make time for ourselves. Sunday’s at the farmer’s market, summer days in the pool, trips to explore the East Coast, taking the pup to the dog park. We love the ebb and flow between fun packed days and cozy ones with no plan, where we don’t even leave the house. Time with our family and our fantastic circle of friends (who are family too!) make for the best days.

Our Family

Wyatt rounds out our family of three. He is a fearless explorer and creative thinker. He is excited to be a big brother, always getting ready for “my baby”. We often talk with him about adoption. Our house “family” also includes Huck the dog, Raphael the fish, and the 6 chickens (all named by Wyatt). Carl’s family lives nearby and Andrea’s family is still New England-based. Holidays are spent with family and friends; Andrea now makes two turkeys for Thanksgiving! Both of us have had lifelong friends and ones made along the way, and they all enrich our lives.

In Conclusion

We are honored to welcome a new child into our family through the gift of adoption. We are coming into this with open arms and open minds, just like raising our own son, to see what beautiful things it can teach us.

At home, we tend to spend time in the kitchen preparing food and talking and laughing. To wind down, we either read or watch shows.

In Conclusion

We are both quite close to our families, spending holidays, vacations and weekends with them. Our daughter or son would know the love of an extended family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins providing support, comfort and belonging.

Hello, we are Andrew & John!

If you are reading this we would like to thank you for considering us and for your role in our journey to parenthood. Becoming parents was a goal that both of us shared and discussed at our first date almost 12 years ago. After meeting online, we dated for six months prior to getting our first apartment together and then we were married in 2015 in a ceremony conducted by Andrew's father (a retired Episcopal Priest) and surrounded by our friends and family. Our Great Dane "Butch" Etta walked us down the aisle and insisted on joining us on stage. Andrew grew up in Texas and Colorado with his amazing parents and is the youngest of six kids. Although he works incredibly hard, family is and always will be a priority. Andrew is grounded, patient, and always looking for betterment for his family. He is also fun, sarcastic and incredibly generous to everyone he loves. While John is whimsical, creative, and an eternal optimist always looking for the good in situations. John grew up in a loving family in the Ozark mountains of Northern Arkansas. He has one older brother and is very close to his family although separated by distance.

Our Lives

For the past 10 years, we have shared our time between the NYC area and our weekend home in Pennsylvania. As we got further along in our adoption journey, we decided to consolidate our lifestyle for our growing family. We sold both our apartments and weekend house and bought a large family home and farm in central New Jersey. We envision our children playing in the fields, fishing in the pond, hiking in the forest, swimming in the pool and having a space to call their own. Education is also immensely important to us, and we have selected our new location with that in mind. It has some of the best public schools in the state. We cannot wait to watch our child grow and learn.

Our Family

Family is so important to us, although our families are not close in distance they are a huge part of our lives. Andrew's parents live in Colorado, and we visit them several times a year and have weekly phone calls. John's family is in Arkansas, and we visit yearly and try to meet up in Michigan or Arizona where we can also visit with Aunts, Uncles, and Grand Parents. John and his bother are very close and speak on the phone a couple of times a week. We also consider our close friends as our selected family, and all are very excited for us to become parents.

In Conclusion

Words cannot begin to express our gratitude for the gift of parenthood available to us through open adoption. We already love this child with all our hearts and cannot wait to become his or her dads and share this journey with you, their birth family.

Hello, we are André-Michel & Maymuchka!

We met in 2002 in New York and fell in love with each other and with the city. Soon after we met, our careers led us to live in Africa for four years, in Europe for two years (where our daughter Inés, now 8, was born), before coming back to New York. Having Inés (the joy of our lives) proved more difficult than we had envisaged: we had difficulty conceiving. Since then, after much hesitation (mainly from André-Michel's side), we have totally embraced the idea of making our family bigger by adopting another child. It is a dream for the three of us with the full support of our parents, siblings, and friends on both sides. We are so excited by the prospect of welcoming a baby in our home that we barely spend a day without talking about it.

About André-Michel

Job Description
Political Affairs Officer

Hobbies
Reading, theater, listening to music, and traveling

Fun Fact
At almost 42, he is learning how to swim at the urging (and mocking!) of his daughter.

About Maymuchka

Job Description
Human Rights Officer

Hobbies
Reading, hanging out with friends and family, trying restaurants, and traveling

Fun Fact
Even though she is scared of getting in a car accident, she once jumped out of a plane!!

About Inés

Job Description
4th Grade Student

Hobbies
Reading, sports, playing the cello, traveling, and dancing

Fun Fact
The only time she doesn't talk is when is reading! (She even talks in her sleep!)

Our Lives

Maymuchka grew up in Montreal, Canada, in a family originally from Haiti. André-Michel grew up in Douala, Cameroon, a West African country where French and English are spoken. Both of our extended families made of many cousins, aunts, uncles have been and continue to be very present in our lives. The warmth and love that we enjoyed while growing up continue to be central to our own family of three. There is often people visiting us. We usually listen to music. We love talking and hanging out with each other and with friends, traveling and discovering new places as well. A good meal at the end of the day is often a central moment. In part because we have spent the past 15 years together and far from our respective countries of birth, we tend to enjoy moments spent together and with our families as precious gifts. In recent years, New York has become our home, and we are very happy here. At home we speak English and French.

Our Family

Whether it is at home with friends or just the three of us, on our way to school and work, traveling to our families in Canada, Haiti, or simply visiting new places in Morocco, we feel lucky to be together as a family.

Our preferred activities often include playing soccer, biking, picking apples, or skiing. We also enjoy having brunch on weekends, hosting friends and families, and traveling to new and old places.

Shortly after her birth, Inés was baptized at the same church we got married in years before. Standing with us in the picture is the priest as well as her godfather, Patrice, and her godmother, Vivian.

Inés is the joy of our life. She is talkative, sensitive, open-minded and very very loving. Interestingly, she took the bold step of convincing her father that adoption was a great option to enlarge our family. So she succeeded where her mother had not, in less than 24 hours. She made the case that she would really love to have a sibling and that she will take care of her or him. As we write these words, she has asked to edit them so that we make the best possible case for birth parents considering placing their child for adoption.

In Conclusion

A saying holds that it takes only two people to make a child, but it takes a community to raise him or her. We will be privileged to be leading members of the community chosen to raise another child, your child. Thank you.

Our immediate family lives in Colombia but Angela has extended family living close by. Angela’s cousin, her husband and two kids live only a block away from our house with Angela’s aunt and uncle and they are very close to us. Also, Oscar’s best friend lives with his wife and two kids in Garden City just 5 minutes away from where we live, and they are also very close to us. We hope you will consider us and give us the special honor of raising this child.

Hello, we are Anthony & Kevin!

We are looking to adopt a child that we can help raise with much love. We met online in 2010, and we bonded over our love of cuisine. As we were getting to know each other, we ate at a new restaurant every week around New York. From very early on we talked about adoption, and we saw that as a possibility in our future. We live in Queens with our cat named Lil’ Poundcake. Anthony is from a big family. He grew up in a small town in Indiana, and both of us go back to visit every year. Kevin is from a smaller family in California which they come to visit us every year.  We both want to read to our child every night, take them to museums, and to see the world.

Job Description
Retail Store Manager

Hobbies
Reading, cooking, traveling and crafting

About Kevin

Job Description

Our Lives

During summer nights we love going on picnics in Astoria Park with friends, pie-making parties, and brunch every Sunday. When it’s cold, we stay indoors and cook dinner together, cuddle up with our cat, and watch movies.  We love exploring the city and trying new things such as booking cooking classes of food we’ve never made before. We are huge fans of Broadway, so we try to see a show whenever we can. Anthony has a growing vinyl collection, and Kevin collects video games.

We take two trips each year, one trip to an American city, and another abroad.

Our Family

Kevin - My family emigrated from Guatemala. I was raised an only child by my mother, aunt, uncle, and grandmother. My aunt had a daughter whom I consider to be my little sister. I learned from them that raising a child is a job for a group of people who have nothing but love to give.

Anthony - I grew up the second oldest of six kids, many of whom have their own children now. I love spending time with them when I visit. Even though they don’t live in New York City, I try to plan out our vacations to see the kids a few times a year.

In Conclusion

Thank you for taking the time to read about us. We will provide this child with so much love and attention. Our families are looking forward to the day when they can welcome a new member of the family. Your child will not only have us two raising him/her but the rest of our families as well. We understand this is a difficult decision for you to make, so we want to do anything possible to ease your concerns. If you have any questions, we’d love to answer them. We’re so excited to adopt a child and share this journey with you.

Hello, we are Benita & Elyssa!

We are a loving and creative couple living in Brooklyn, NY. We met and fell for each other so hard that for a minute Benita forgot where her apartment building was and we drove around the neighborhood in circles! Fast forward five years, and we are married and sharing a happy life along with our two cats,
Tucker and Moo.

We are both social workers who adore children. Between the two of us we have worked with children and families for a total of 32 years! In our free time, we love seeing friends, cooking (and eating) delicious meals and making each other laugh.

When it comes to starting a family, adoption feels like the clear path for us, as we know that the definition of family is very simply the people you love, and the people who love you back.

I once had a job as a professional sandwich-maker at Au Bon Pain, and worked my way up to making 6 sandwiches at once! To this day, I pride myself on my delicious sandwich creations.

Our Lives

We look forward to having a child at the center of our lives who we will cuddle and kiss and support for a lifetime in becoming the person that they are meant to be. We feel lucky to have the best of both worlds: we live in a diverse neighborhood, in a house with a backyard but are also walking distance to stores, playgrounds and city life. Benita was a preschool teacher and the child will hear lots of singing and will dance around the living room to music, play make- believe and make art projects with glitter, glue, and paint. When they are little, there will be bedtime stories every night, some of them made up with themselves as the main character. With Elyssa, the child will measure flour and sugar for cookies and will lick the spoon! They will play catch and run races in our backyard and look for fireflies on summer evenings.

Our Family

Our family and friends are all excited and ready to embrace the newest member of our family. We are very close with Benita’s parents, who live in Manhattan. They love parks, museums, and shows and will provide exciting family adventures. Elyssa’s parents, with spouses, will be frequent grandparent visitors. A total of 6 grandparents in all! There’s Elyssa’s stepbrother, and generations of cousins as well. We have close friends we consider family, to become “aunties” and “uncles.” They will show love, support and loyalty to our child. We both grew up with family and friends who always asked lots of questions, offering wisdom and ideas. Our child will always have a listening adult for their ideas and stories.

In Conclusion

We would like to meet you and hear more about what you are looking for from us. We are sending good wishes, caring and compassion your way during this time of such difficult decisions. We hope that you will find the path that feels right for you and your child. If you think we could be part of your adoption plan we would be honored. We would work hard every single day to put your mind at ease knowing that this child is deeply loved and cared for.
