Danielle

Hello! My name is Danielle. Thank you for taking the time to consider my profile. Becoming a parent is something I’ve always dreamed about and I’m very excited to make that dream a reality through adoption. Within my family are several adopted children that are thriving and adjusting well. I want to be a part of this tradition and will make a great parent.

My established career enables me to be able to support myself and a family. My current firm allows me to work from home and I would be able to spend quality time raising a child. I have an amazing family and core group of friends that I am truly grateful for and know are supporting me wholeheartedly in this process and beyond. I’m not sure who is more excited for this journey! Almost all of my family and friends have made an Aunt out of me. They can hardly wait until I return the favor, so my support system is deep and strong. Although I have traveled all over, I still live in the area I was born and raised in, as does my immediate family. I’m also a huge dog lover! I have two, ages 14 and 4 who are great with my niece, nephew and friends’ children.

My journey to this point has been a long and bumpy one at times, but I cannot possibly presume to understand the emotional agony and heartache that you endure coming to the decision to create an adoption plan. All I can say is that although we have never met, I know you are a courageous person who possesses the strength to make such a tremendous sacrifice to ensure the well-being of your child. And I truly wish you the best on your journey.

I take cooking and photography classes on occasion and torture family regularly with my cooking.

My Life

I’m a proud Aunt of two and Godmother to four! My nephew will be four in October and my niece is two. We regularly have outings and sleepovers. . They are the best lunch dates I could ever ask for. If a dog could be loved to death, my oldest dog is in trouble with those two! My house is located near a number of parks and many bike paths, and it’s become a regular part of my life to explore them. It’s so relaxing and great exercise. I can’t tell you how many miles I have logged in these trails over the years with the dogs. Traveling, both domestically and internationally is a great passion as well. This year alone I traveled to Chicago, Dominican Republic, Georgia, and Switzerland. I look forward to sharing these experiences with my child.

My Family

I am the oldest of two and I’m lucky to be very close with my family. My brother and I were raised in New Jersey and we both still live there, where my brother is raising his own family. My mother and brother live about 10 miles from me and my father lives in the same town I do. We have family dinners regularly. It’s a nice tradition and one of my favorite things to do together. I couldn’t ask for a more supportive group. They are rooting for me, they have been a part of the process as best they can, and they can’t wait to welcome the next member of the family.

Erin

Hello.

It’s hard to understand how you may be feeling right now and I hope you have the support you need to make the right plan for your baby. Jacqui

My name is Jacqui, although I couldn't possibly know how you are feeling, maybe I can relate to your experience some.  When I was 18, I made an adoption plan for my son and myself.  I wanted him to have what he needed to thrive and be happy, so I made the most difficult decision of my life.  I know there are many very deep, personal feelings associated with making an adoption plan.

When I gave birth to my son, most adoptions were closed, so I didn’t have contact with him growing up. When he became an adult we reunited.  Getting to know him over the past 7 years has been wonderful.  I’m so proud and happy to know the wonderful, successful adult that he's become. I couldn’t have given him the opportunities that he received from his adoptive family at that time in my life.

Over the past 7 years, I've realized the adoption plan was the right decision for both of us even though it was difficult.  Recently I asked him how he would feel if I adopted a baby, he was fully supportive and said, “I think you have so much to offer a child.”

I'm now at a very different place in my life.  I'm ready and able to have a family and I hope that seeing my profile will show you who I am, the love, warmth, and laughter I have to give and the supportive community of friends and family I belong with who will help me to raise your child through all the successes and challenges of life.

Thank you again for taking the time to look over my profile.  I hope it is the beginning of our story together.

All the best to you,
Jacqui

About Jacqui

Job Description
Music and Science Teacher

Hobbies
Hiking, biking, sewing, reading, cooking, playing piano, spending time with friends, going out to movies or dinner

Fun Fact
I’m really enjoying making new recipes for dinner. Recently, I learned to make fried capers to go with white fish and a cucumber dill salad. The fried capers are crunchy, salty, and really delicious.

My Life

I live in a very diverse community where I’m a few doors away from neighbors who have recently adopted their son, Lucas, who just celebrated his 2nd birthday.  We’ve already had conversations about play dates, teething, and the best pre-schools in the area.

I can't wait to take the baby out on walks in the neighborhood.  I live in Manhattan right in between two parks that are beautiful in the summer to go biking or walking, or in the winter to go sledding after it snows.  After our last snow storm, the hills were filled with all the children and families in the neighborhood sledding.

I have a wonderful support network of family, boyfriend, close friends, neighbors, and my church community. There is also a strong parent support network in my area where I can swap information about caregivers, set up playdates to make sure that your baby is cared for at all times.

I’m a music teacher in a public school that is not more than a mile from where I live.  Every day, I go to work and teach students about music, how to play musical instruments and sing.  We put on a musical theatre production each year. Just as I enjoy my job, I also enjoy summer vacations and the 2 months that I have to travel and enjoy life.  In addition to being a band leader and teacher, I’m a pianist.  Music has made my life so expressive and provided me with many opportunities.  I look forward to teaching and sharing my musical fortunes with my son/daughter.

My Family

Alberto is my long-time friend and boyfriend.  He has a 3 year old son that he sees a few weekends a month.  We look forward to having play time with my son/daughter and his son, Xander.

I have a wonderful group of friends.  We hike, bike, explore the city, go to movies, and/or eat.  It's a pretty active, lively group.  If asked, they would probably say that I’m funny, energetic, and kinda goofy.  I love to laugh and do often.  They may also say that I’m a caring friend who likes to listen and help when needed.  Most of my friends, as I’ve told them about adopting have shown so much support.  They are excited to have a new, smaller addition to our circle.

In Conclusion

As a musician and a music teacher, I look forward to teaching your child all about how to express him/herself through music.  It's been an important part of my life.  Please know that with me your baby will be well cared for, loved, nurtured, and guided in every stage of their life.

David & Josh

Hello! We’re Josh and David, a loving and adventurous couple living in Astoria, NYC.

Before landing in one of the world’s most diverse neighborhoods, we grew up as suburban boys in tight-knit, creative families in New Jersey and upstate New York. Our mothers are educators who taught us to keep our hearts and minds open by always learning about the world around us. That love of learning drew us together at a friend’s dinner party nearly 10 years ago, where we laughed and debated politics (and nibbled on chocolate babka) until the sun came up.

Soon after, we found ourselves holding hands on a park bench and daydreaming about having a family together. Josh pictured David teaching our child yoga poses and Yiddish jokes. David imagined Josh singing sweet a cappella lullabies and taking our child to see the latest Star Wars movie.

We still see all of the ways the other would make a great dad, so above all, we’d like you to know that our hearts are wide open to welcoming a little one. We cannot wait to show him or her the kindness, compassion, and love of learning that are the common threads in our families and friendships. We are grateful to have the opportunity to meet you and to share our excitement about building our family through adoption.

About David

Job Description

Hobbies

About Josh

Job Description
Lawyer

Hobbies
Singing, going to the theater, reading, being David’s personal travel agent, exploring NYC

Fun Fact
Thanks to a family that loved to take road trips growing up, Josh has visited 48 U.S. states and only two to go!

Our Lives

We fill our lives with adventures big and small, trying to learn from each experience so that we can better connect with the world around us.

On many weekends, you’ll find us visiting friends and exploring NYC neighborhoods, searching out new art exhibits or street festivals. We especially love to travel and learn about foreign food cultures and are always excited to return home and cook our versions of exotic dishes for friends. Thanks to Josh’s knack for finding frequent flyer deals, we’ve had the chance to explore 35 countries - and counting!

We also learn through the personal journeys we’ve taken. During college, Josh read up on nutrition and lost more than 100 pounds, keeping them off ever since. Recently, David completed a yoga teacher course, exploring the physical practice and connecting with its focus on mindfulness. He’s also an avid runner whose feet have carried him through more than 850 miles of NY streets this year.

But no matter how busy we are, we always make time to hear about each other’s day, just as our families did growing up. We also stay close to our friends through emails, calls, coffees, and reunions, continuing to grow from those relationships.

While we’ve learned so much from our family, friends, and each other, we cannot imagine how much fun it will be to learn with - and from - the child we’re lucky enough to welcome into our family.

Our Family

We love bringing our families together to celebrate special occasions, holidays, or just to hang out on weekends. It’s pretty easy because they live close by - no further than Albany! When we get together, you’ll see us cooking, playing (lovingly) competitive games of Scrabble, trying to think of the cleverest puns, and above all, laughing.

Both of our families look forward to welcoming our child with boundless love. For Josh’s family - his parents, sister, aunt, and uncle - it will be the first baby of the next generation. David’s mom is excited for us to bring a second grandchild into her family. Her first grandchild, our niece-to-be, is due soon, we cannot wait to spoil her!

We also have an extended family filled with friends from different points in our lives - from Josh’s college singing group to David’s yoga class buddies. We’re excited to introduce our child to these loving friends and the many playmates among the growing group.

In Conclusion

Thank you so much for inviting us to share in your adoption journey. If you choose us to parent your child, we will work together every day to ensure that he or she feels loved, cared for, protected, and challenged to become his or best self. We will kiss every bruise, laugh often, play, celebrate, embrace learning, and help him or her cope with life’s many ups and downs. Most importantly, if you choose us to be your child’s parents, we will honor your decision to bring our families together each and every day.

We spend a great deal of time outdoors, be it walking our dogs daily, hiking or exploring our town and the NYC area. In our family, communication is important and conversations are key. We do puzzles together, and often play boards games and cards. We are both committed to living healthy lives and go to the gym regularly. Nutrition plays a crucial part in our lives, and we create lots of healthy home cooked meals. We will raise a child in a household that encourages learning, exploration and play. We expect to travel a great deal, and there will be many visits to Walt Disney World!

Our Family

Anthony’s parents live very close and are looking forward to being a part of their first grandchild’s life, while his brother looks forward to becoming an uncle! Darren’s family has a diverse background and each of them follows a different path in life. They are scattered throughout the country, but the love they have for each other keeps them connected despite the distance. Between us we share a small group of close friends and extended family that we can turn to for advice and support. Everyone is excited about our adoption.

In Conclusion

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We hope that something we said has touched your heart and that you would be open to allowing us to raise your child in our loving and special family.

Rick & Rob

We met 13 years ago the old-fashioned way: in a bar. It was a cold January night. The next week, we had a breakfast date at a local diner and an indoor picnic on Rick’s living room floor (it was winter!).

A couple years later, we moved in together, and then soon after New York passed marriage equality, we got married in 2012. The wedding was an emotional ceremony, followed by a big party with lots of family and friends from all stages of our lives. We live near a big park in New York, in a neighborhood full of restaurants, schools, playgrounds, and people with diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. We visit family often (and speak Spanish with Rick’s cousins/aunts/uncles), and love to entertain friends at our place. We can’t wait to be parents, and live life more fully through all the joys and challenges of raising a child.

Our Lives

We have a stable, active home life in New York City, in a neighborhood with people of all ages and races.

We love eating together, and having friends and family over for meals and special occasions. We take walks and bike along the river. We also love to travel, for weekend trips to nearby mountains or beaches, as well as vacations farther away. We have gone to Europe and Latin America and are excited to travel with a family. For work, Rob also goes to national parks in Latin America. We even lived in Spain a few years ago.

Our Family

We are close with our families and visit them frequently. Rick’s mom lives in Connecticut, and we spend lots of weekends with her. We go to Kansas several times a year to visit Rob’s family. We shared an unforgettable trip to Peru, visiting tíos, tías, and primos in the mountain town where Rick’s parents grew up. A lot of his family lives in the U.S. now, and we go visit them (and vice versa). A lot of close friends also visit us, from earlier parts of our lives and from when we lived in Spain a few years ago.

In Conclusion

Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and for learning about us and our desire to become parents. We will do everything we can to provide your child with all the opportunities to be happy and healthy. We will teach them the value of family, integrity, education, and hard work. Most of all, we want you to know that they will always be loved, cared for, and supported.

Rishi & Archana

We are Rishi and Archana.  We met on a blind date in 2006, got engaged on Christmas day in 2007 and married in the summer of 2009 surrounded by close family and friends in a religious ceremony, followed by a reception at a French restaurant in New York City (Rishi loves all things French!). Archana is a warm, caring and a sensitive person. She is creative, artistic, enjoys painting and decorating their home. Rishi is outgoing, cheerful, analytical and loves dancing.

We are both intellectually curious. We love traveling to see and experience the world, reading, watching movies, theater, Broadway and trying different cuisines in New York City’s ever growing list of restaurants. We spend our weekends visiting museums and art galleries, biking, swimming and taking long walks along the waterfront during the summer. We specially enjoy hanging out with our many friends at home or over lazy brunches and long dinners.  We look forward to sharing all of this and more with a child!

We have always wanted to parent. We are committed to loving, caring for and celebrating life with your child. We both cherish our own childhoods for the love, security and opportunity our parents gave us. Nothing could make us happier than bringing a child home and making him/her part of us and our family.  We are both well-established professionals and very capable of giving a child the love, security and opportunity that every child in this world deserves. We will be very respectful and supportive of whatever choices and or decisions our child makes related to her/his biological family.

If you choose us to be the parents of your child, we promise to give him or her a wonderful life with endless love and opportunity. Your child will always know that you chose adoption for them with a great deal of love and thought.

Our Lives

The institution of family holds very high value in our lives. We believe that everything else in life can come and go, but your family is a constant source of love, strength and support through the good times and the bad times. We are both very passionate about the world and cherish the many diverse experiences we have had in our travels. We have a global perception of family and know that family transcends biological connection.

Education has a high priority in our lives.  At a very early age our parents ingrained in us the importance of earning a professional educational degree. Our parents wanted their children to always be self-reliant and capable of taking on the world. Archana has an undergraduate degree in accounting & economics after which she obtained a post graduate degree in fashion management from a leading fashion school in the U.S. Today, Archana works for a top fashion lifestyle brand in New York City. Rishi has a successful career at a well-regarded asset management firm in New York City.  He obtained his undergraduate degree in computer science and a graduate degree in business management from a top American university.

We live in a beautiful large two bed/two bath waterfront apartment facing the Hudson River. Our apartment has lots of sunshine and is in a secure 24-hour doorman building. There are many families raising young children in our building that has a children’s playroom, a gym, a Jacuzzi, a screening room and party room that is a hotspot for children’s birthday parties. Our building has its own outside play area that gets converted into an ice skating rink in the winters. Right across the street is a seven-acre park with a soccer field, a carousel, plenty of swings, a slide, and sprinklers in the summer, a trampoline and even a sand beach with sun chairs. During the summer the park hosts weekly movie screenings under the stars and puppet shows. Our community is very diverse with Asian, Caucasian and Hispanic families.
