Pre-Adoption Training: Finding Self - Adoptive Families and Identity

  • Spence-Chapin 410 East 92nd Street New York, NY 10128 United States (map)

This training is designed to support you in your preparation for parenting through intercountry adoption. Identity is widely recognized as an important, individualized, and complex process among adoptees. We will discuss the crucial role parents play in helping their children develop a healthy identity that incorporates their all aspects of who they are. We will explore how histories of loss and trauma and your family’s experience as a transracial/ transcultural family impacts how your child sees him/herself. We will take time to answer your individual questions and this will also create an opportunity to meet other perspective adoptive parents who may serve as a support system to you and your child!

This training is scheduled for 2 hours. Space is limited.
