Parent Training: Understanding the Impact of Trauma and Loss

  • Spence-Chapin 410 East 92nd Street New York, NY, 10128 United States (map)

This training is designed to support you in your transition to parenting through adoption and is ideal for anyone who may be parenting a child age three years or older at the time of homecoming. We will discuss child development, grief and loss, trauma’s impact on child development, attachment and bonding, as well as keys to successful older child adoption. We will take time to answer your individual questions and this will also create an opportunity to meet other perspective adoptive parents who may serve as a support system to you and your child! There will be a break for lunch; please bring a lunch or plan to buy lunch at one of the many local restaurants.

Please RSVP to ljiang@spence-chapin.org by January 8th. This event is open to families pre-placement who are seeking to adopt a child ages 3+
