Parent Training: Child Development

  • Spence-Chapin 410 East 92nd Street New York, NY, 10128 United States (map)

We will explore Erik Erikson’s theory on typical child development and see how early childhood experiences can impact a child’s progression through these developmental stages. We will answer questions such as: Does adoption change how or when a child progresses through their stages of development? How do you parent a child who may behaviorally appear younger than their age? We will help you to explore what expectations you have for the child who will join your family and how to adjust your parenting techniques to your child’s developmental level. We will take time to answer your individual questions and this will also create an opportunity to meet other perspective adoptive parents who may serve as a support system to you and your child! There will be a break for lunch; please bring a lunch or plan to buy lunch at one of the many local restaurants.

Please RSVP to by October 16th. This event is open to families pre-placement who are seeking to adopt a child ages 3+
