Parent Training: Attachment and Bonding

  • Spence-Chapin 410 East 92nd Street New York, NY, 10128 United States (map)

We will discuss attachment and bonding throughout the course of your child’s life. We’ll explore verbal and non-verbal attachment-promoting behaviors. We’ll dive into how past loss and the fear of rejection impacts bonding and attachment. Tools for promoting a healthy transition post-placement will be provided alongside a discussion of post-adoption blues which new parents sometimes experience We will take time to answer your individual questions and this will also create an opportunity to meet other perspective adoptive parents who may serve as a support system to you and your child! There will be a break for lunch; please bring a lunch or plan to buy lunch at one of the many local restaurants.

Please RSVP to ljiang@spence-chapin.org by April 16th. This event is open to families pre-placement who are seeking to adopt a child ages 3+
