Join us for dinner and our new parenting series, where you and other parents will learn, talk together, and hear from our family experts and guest speakers. Together, we will explore the challenges of raising children today while developing insight and confidence into your parenting. Each month we’ll discuss a new theme connected to parenting in today’s modern world of work, family life, the internet, racial and gender identity, relationships, communication, and more!
We are excited to be joined by Emily Becker-Weidman, PhD, Clinical Director of the Center for Family Development, who will offer guidance on how to tune in to your teen and improve your relationship and communication. These years are marked by dramatic shifts in your child's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. We’ll talk about how to tell the difference between typical moodiness and problematic behaviors. We’ll also cover issues like social media, self-esteem and body image, dating and sexual activity, and substance use. You’ll leave with tools to help your teen become independent, while still providing parental support and nurturing your relationship.
A vegetarian dinner will be served and guests may bring their own dinner as well. All parents and future parents are welcome to attend.
Walk-ins are welcome, but it helps us plan if you register by Monday, May 18th. What do we mean by family registration? Well that depends on what you mean by family! Spouses, partners, parents, caretakers, friends, and siblings are all welcome. Fee covers 2 adults.
