From 6:30-7:30 pm, a panel of adoptees and adoptive parents share their unique insight into the ways that adoption has impacted their lives, serving as an excellent opportunity to increase your understanding of how adoption shapes families. Prospective and current adoptive parents, adoptees, and community members are encouraged to attend.
From 7:30-8:00 pm, join Spence-Chapin staff to learn about the current landscape of international and domestic adoption and the needs of the children waiting for adoptive families. We’ll discuss the scope of all Spence-Chapin adoption programs including international adoption (Bulgaria, Colombia, and South Africa) and domestic adoption (special needs adoption) as well as Spence-Chapin’s adoption services (Adoption Partnership).
This event is helpful for people simply contemplating adoption. It's normal for prospective adopters to have many questions and this is an opportunity to find answers. Adoption is a lifelong commitment and is about providing a child in care, who cannot return home, with a permanent and secure family. Any parent can be considered - people on their own or in a relationship, working or not working, regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation or financial situation - and time is spent matching children to families who can meet their needs.
