China Update – February 2012

UPDATES FROM CCCWA
Currently, the CCCWA website indicates that applicants’ dossiers logged in through November 30, 2010 have been reviewed, and referrals have been made for dossiers registered through August 15, 2006. This means that referrals were made for 7 day’s worth of dossiers over the past month.

As the wait for referrals through the traditional China program has grown over time, we have seen the composition of many of our original travel groups change as well; some families have switched to other adoption programs, including the China Waiting Child program, while others have reassessed their plans to adopt. For this reason, Spence-Chapin’s Group #80 has dissolved from its original five families, and the next travel group who is expecting referrals is Group #81, whose dossiers were logged in at CCCWA on October 18, 2006.

WAITING CHILD PROGRAM
Last month, a Spence-Chapin adoptive family was matched through the Waiting Child program with a 16-month-old girl who was referred with an orthopedic diagnosis related to hip dysplasia and club foot.
