China Program January 2012 Update

Updates From CCCWAPresently, the CCCWA still reads:   “The CCWAA has finished the review of the adoption application documents registered with our office before November 30, 2010. The CCWAA has finished the placement of children for the families whose application documents were registered with our office before August 10, 2006.” This means that CCCWA has made referrals to 3 days’ worth of clocked-in dossiers over the past month.

Family Travel   In January, two Spence-Chapin families who applied to the Waiting Child program early last year, will be traveling to Shandong and Fujian Provinces in China to bring home two beautiful boys with medical conditions.

Waiting Child Program   A Spence-Chapin family was recently matched in December with a beautiful 18 month old girl from Henan province who is diagnosed with a history of cerebral hemorrhage. This family has been waiting approximately 10 months since their dossier was submitted for a match through this program.

Cultural Events  Chinese New Year begins on Monday, January 23rd– the Year of the Dragon! It is believed that the Year of the Dragon will be marked by excitement, unpredictability, and exhilaration, and those born in this year are said to be are blessed with good fortune.

Visit Chinatown for the Fire Cracker Ceremony and the Lunar New Year Parade.

New York Chinese Cultural Center  Come celebrate the Lunar New Year Festival January 28.

Lunar New Year Festival: Join the Flushing Library  in celebrating the Year of the Dragon, January 28. Chinese and Korean Culinary Arts and Crafts, food preparation, and traditional song and dance round out this day.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company  Year of the Dragon dance performances in Newark, Flushing and Long Island City January 15- Feb 6. See website for more details.
