China Announces Waiting Child Adoptions Now Open to Single Women

Spence-Chapin, which has been placing children from China since 1992, is pleased that the Waiting Child program is now accepting single women. The China Center for Children’s Welfare and Adoption (CCCWA) announced on March 15, 2011, that single women can apply to request a match with a “Special Focus” waiting child.
Special Focus children are those whose need is most pressing because they have been waiting for a significant amount of time to be successfully matched with an adoptive family.  Generally, these children are pre-school or school-aged children who have an identified special need which may be difficult to treat in orphanage care.  Both boys and girls in the Special Focus program are in need of adoptive families.
