Karen

People have described me as a down to earth, open-minded, warm and loving person with an optimistic outlook and youthful spirit. I’ve been truly blessed with a beautiful life surrounded by my amazing family and friends. I cherish my many wonderful and unique experiences, found a very fun and rewarding career in fashion and love living in my hometown and the greatest city in the world, NYC! However, I’ve always wanted to be a mom – to love and nurture a child and see them develop their own uniqueness. I know there are many paths to having a family, circumstances that bring people together in a ‘meant to be’ kind of way, and my heart fills with joy when I think about welcoming my first child into my life through adoption. I’m lucky that most of my family, along with my many dear friends live very close to my Manhattan home. All of them are super excited to see me become a mother and share their love with my child.

My Life

I’m lucky that I get to share the things I love with my family, friends and their children here in NYC. And we do A LOT! We often go to the parks and playgrounds nearby to ride bikes, play basketball or just go for a quiet walk. Since I was born in the Bronx, we also go to Yankee stadium to root for my favorite team. We visit all the great museums and see all kinds of music concerts and shows. We spend a lot of time at a beautiful beach area close by where the days and nights are filled with building sand castles, swimming, sunset barbecues and eating lots and lots of ice cream! I have a passion for traveling and hope to instill a sense of adventure and exploration in my child as well. I can’t wait to introduce them to all the wonderful things the city and the world have to offer, and for them to share in the fun times and make new memories with the rest of our family and friends.

My Family

I share a very close relationship with my 2 sisters and brother. We are a fun, silly creative bunch who enjoy teaching and coaching. My mom is a retired 1st grade teacher who LOVES spending time with her 4 grandchildren - all boys. While sadly my dad passed away, he worked was a police officer in NYC. I hope to raise my child like my parents raised us - with lots of love and laughter, to value education and hard work, to always be honest, respectful and kind to others, and that we can do anything!

I love every minute of my joyful role of aunt, godmother, ‘kini’, and ‘ KD’ to my nephews and close friends’ many children who all have a special place in my heart. My treasured moments with them include helping with homework and art projects, listening to them talk about their day at school, decorating gingerbread houses, and cheering them on at dance recitals or lacrosse matches..and the hugs and kisses!

My amazing and diverse group of friends mean the world to me. Many of them live nearby , but some live in other countries, including England, Italy, Turkey, Greece and India!

In Conclusion

I hope you were able to see who I am as a person and what my life is like with my beautiful family and friends. Most importantly, I want you to find comfort in how I would love and care for your child should you choose me as their parent. I have great admiration for your strength and appreciate the difficult decision you are making. I look forward to meeting with you to learn more about each other and your dreams for your child.

Melissa & Donald

We are Donald and Melissa.  We grew up less than a mile away from each other never knowing. One night 9 years ago our paths crossed and our lives changed forever.  We were both at a point in our lives that we wanted to settle down, start a family and begin our journey together. We shared all the same ideas & values about all the important things in life and at the top of our list was FAMILY. From the beginning we wanted to fill our home with children and tons of love. God blessed us with two healthy amazing little boys.  Having another baby biologically was not in the cards for us but we were not sad.  We knew in our hearts adoption was the path to take to grow our family.  Being parents already there is no doubt in our minds we were meant to have more children.  We have A LOT of love to give and are waiting to love both you and your child.

Our Lives

Our neighborhood has tons of children. Every year we have a huge block party with a DJ, bouncy houses & face painting. Our town has one of the top rated schools on Long Island. We have town parks, beaches & museums we attend regularly. Our weekends consist of doing family activities. Don enjoys playing sports with our boys, bike riding & boating. I love to cook and make sure we eat dinner together every night. Every Sunday is pasta day and we invite anyone who wants to come. No one ever says no. We get a large crowd and we love it. When we are not home you can find us at our most favorite place to be, our lake house in the Adirondacks. We escape to the lake every chance we get. We spend our days swimming, boating, and collecting tadpoles. We have a sandy beach that makes for great sandcastles and bonfires. On holiday weekends the whole family comes and has a ball!

Our Family

Donnie James is 9 and will be an amazing big brother to your baby, he has had plenty of practice. He loves school, football and LOVES the ice cream man. We have gotten in the car many times to chase down the ice cream man.

Vincent is 7 and CANNOT wait to be a big brother to your baby. He loves art and soccer. He is so funny and has the best personality. We explained to them the importance of their duties as older brothers and they promise to love and take care of your child, but they both agreed that they “will not change poopy diapers.”

Don and I are so blessed to have all of our siblings and parents living close by. Don has a sister and Melissa has two brothers and a sister. There are plenty of babysitters for “Date Night.”

In Conclusion

Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and for learning about us and our desire to become parents. We will do everything we can to provide your child with all the opportunities to be happy and healthy. We will teach them the value of family, integrity, education, and hard work. Most of all, we want you to know that they will always be loved, cared for, and supported.

Daniel & Richa

Multi-racial and multi-cultural – Richa is originally from India and Daniel from Germany, and our child will have an extended family that includes members who are American, Indian, German, English, Thai, Chinese and New Zealander.

Warm and loving – we’ve been together for more than ten years and adore each other, hardly ever fight and have very open and sensitive communication, into which warm and loving web we hope to welcome our child, as well as you, our child’s birth family.

Adventurous and outgoing – we love travelling, have backpacked in Tanzania and Indonesia, have, between us, lived and worked in 18 countries, and look forward to continuing to travel to different parts of the US and the world with our child.

Diverse – even within our immediate family, we have a diverse set of career choices and role models our child can choose from – we have 3 teachers, including Daniel’s brother who teaches refugee children, musician, performance artist, baker, owner of a Thai massage parlor, real estate administrator and a pilot.

About Richa

Job Description:
Lawyer

Hobbies:
Travel, badminton, salsa dancing

Fun Fact:
Richa climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and used to have a goat as a child

Our Lives

We are a very loving couple, and our home is filled with warmth, humor and laughter. We love dancing, be it salsa, Indian Bollywood, or any other music that comes our way. We sometimes spend evenings playing board games, and sometimes Daniel plays the guitar and we sing. On weekends, we like to go hiking in the Hudson valley, spend the day on Far Rockaway beach, or meet close friends for a meal. Our friends are a very diverse set of people – often mixed-race couples like us, many from different parts of the world, with a diverse set of professions and hobbies.

We love doing things that are unusual. We backpacked for 3 months in Tanzania in 2007 and then again in Indonesia in 2010 – each time living with local people, seeing exotic animals and doing interesting activities. We hope to take several such vacations with our child – living simply and locally, seeing new places, learning about other cultures and languages, and interacting with people of different backgrounds.

Our Family

Richa’s parents and her sister Riju, who is 6 years younger than Richa, are very close. They live in India and the whole family skypes at least once a week. We also have a close relationship with Richa’s extended family, including her many aunts and uncles, 8 cousins, their spouses and children. They are scattered over New York, New Jersey, Syracuse, India, Singapore, and London, but get together for family events like weddings, which are loud, warm and fun.

Daniel’s nuclear family lives in Berlin, Germany. His parents divorced when he was six years old. He and his brother Lennart, who is 4 years younger than Daniel, grew up with their father but they all remained close with their mother. Both his parents have remarried and we enjoy a warm and close relationship with Daniel’s father and stepmother, who was born in Thailand, his mother and stepfather and his brother and brother’s wife, who is half-New-Zealander. Christmas is a time for Daniel’s family to gather and we both try to be in Berlin over Christmas.

In Conclusion

We can only imagine how hard it must be to try and make the best decision for your child, weighing all factors, and deciding what family and surroundings you would like to see your child grow up in. We know that there will be ups and downs and that bringing up a child comes with challenges. What we can promise you is that we will love our child and do whatever we can to help her or him to feel safe and be happy, and achieve his or her full potential, and do our best to bring up a mature, balanced person who will love and respect us, the adoptive parents, as well as you, the birth family.

John & Jennifer

We are John and Jennifer. We met in 2011 and have been together ever since. We both come from close, loving families and we are very excited to grow our family through adoption. John and I met later in life and we decided that having a biological connection was not our primary reason for having a child. We want to raise a child because of the love, knowledge, and values we’d like to share.

After many years in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, we recently relocated to St. George, Staten Island with our dog Cooper. Our waterfront neighborhood is diverse and family friendly so we’ll have a supportive community of parents and playmates for our child. We love to experience all that NYC has to offer and look forward to sharing the artistic, cultural, and historic attractions with our child.

Jennifer’s family lives in Maryland and North Carolina so our family will definitely travel. John’s family lives on Staten Island near the beach which we’ll enjoy as a family during the summers.

Our Family

Jennifer has 3 siblings and John has 2.  The only children in the family are John’s nephews and the youngest one is 15.  This means our child will be showered with love from grandparents, aunts and uncles.  Every year Jennifer’s family rents a beach house in Corolla, NC and the extended family enjoys this quiet seaside town.  We look forward to sharing this tradition with our child.  We alternate spending holidays with each side of the family so our child will have ample opportunities to know both.  Both families support the aspirations of other family members, for example everyone volunteered for the campaign when Jennifer’s sister ran for an elected office.

In Conclusion

We sincerely hope you enjoyed getting to know a bit about us.  We would be honored to meet you and eternally grateful if you were to choose us to be the forever family for your child. Your child will know as soon as he or she can understand that families come together in different ways and our family was made complete when he or she became a part of our lives.

Jorge and Sarah

We are a caring and creative family who are looking forward to providing a loving home for your child. We have been together since 2003, and we love to spend time together. One of our favorite things to do is travel together, especially to Jorge’s home country of Mexico and Sarah’s family home in New Zealand. We are also particularly fond of puns and silly jokes. Adoption was our first choice for expanding our family. We want to provide a home and a nurturing environment to a child who needs it. We are really looking forward to the great honor of raising a child, and to providing every opportunity we can for her or him. We believe that a family is what we make of it, and in adoption we see an opportunity to build the family that we envision for ourselves and for our child.

We have a small neighborhood park a few blocks away, and our new home has a backyard. We also have a small pink house near the beach in Mexico, where we love having friends and family come and visit, exploring the beaches and natural beauty of the area, as well as Mayan culture. Our child will have the unique opportunity to be in touch with nature, while being raised in a cosmopolitan urban environment. Jorge is fluent in both Spanish and English, and Sarah is working on her Spanish.

Our Family

We are very close with our families, even though they don’t live in the United States. While we miss our many friends and family who live outside of the USA, it does give us the excuse to visit them! We have a very close knit group of friends in New York, many of whom have young children. We spend a great deal of time with these chosen families of ours, particularly on the weekend, when we like to explore what the city has to offer.

In Conclusion

We cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. We understand that this must be the most difficult decision that you will ever make. We understand that if you have made the decision to move forward with an adoption plan it is because you believe that it is the best decision for your child. We want you to know that we empathize with you, and that we would be honored to raise your child.

Rick & Rob

We met 13 years ago the old-fashioned way: in a bar. It was a cold January night. The next week, we had a breakfast date at a local diner and an indoor picnic on Rick’s living room floor (it was winter!).

A couple years later, we moved in together, and then soon after New York passed marriage equality, we got married in 2012. The wedding was an emotional ceremony, followed by a big party with lots of family and friends from all stages of our lives. We live near a big park in New York, in a neighborhood full of restaurants, schools, playgrounds, and people with diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. We visit family often (and speak Spanish with Rick’s cousins/aunts/uncles), and love to entertain friends at our place. We can’t wait to be parents, and live life more fully through all the joys and challenges of raising a child.

Our Family

We are close with our families and visit them frequently. Rick’s mom lives in Connecticut, and we spend lots of weekends with her. We go to Kansas several times a year to visit Rob’s family. We shared an unforgettable trip to Peru, visiting tíos, tías, and primos in the mountain town where Rick’s parents grew up. A lot of his family lives in the U.S. now, and we go visit them (and vice versa). A lot of close friends also visit us, from earlier parts of our lives and from when we lived in Spain a few years ago.
