Young Adult Adoptee Community

What is it?

Spence-Chapin is currently working on a new initiative for young adult adoptees. This group's goal is to provide young adult adoptees with a place to come together for supportive and social activities, as well as share information about topics related to adoption. This is an open group, and you can join at any time and be involved as much or as little as your schedule permits.

Who is involved?

18-22 year old domestically and internationally adopted individuals who have a desire to connect to other adoptees; to share their experiences in a safe and open environment; to learn about others' adoption stories; and to have opportunities to just have fun!

How can I be involved?

There are many different ways you can be involved in the YAAC.

• Sign up for our quarterly e-newsletter which features upcoming events, information about interesting adoption-related topics, articles from fellow adoptees, and more!
• Come meet us at an event! The YAAC hosts bi-annual events— everything from workshops on search and reunion to panels of adult adoptees to pizza parties. Have an idea for an interesting event? Let us know!
• Join the conversation on our private YAAC Facebook group, designed to provide a venue for young adult adoptees, ages 18-22 to share information, connect with other adoptees, and gain support from one another.
• Since YAAC is still in its beginning stages, there are many exciting opportunities to be involved in creating this program in a way that sounds interesting to you. From outreach to programming, graphic design to blogging, to event staffing and more, let us know your interests, and we can help you find a way to be involved in a way that suits your strengths.
