Spence-Chapin's international adoption program was launched in 1975 when the first children arrived in the United States from Korea. Since that time, it has expanded to include additional countries in Asia, as well as Eastern Europe and Latin America. In all countries, Spence-Chapin is committed to finding loving homes for infants, toddlers, siblings, school-age children and children with special health care needs. China
	* New Online * Presentation about our China Program Spence-Chapin began working in China in 1992 and has placed close to 600 children since that time. China has a centralized, stable adoption system. Families travel in groups to bring their children home — often forming lifelong friendships and support networks.
Colombia
	Since 1994, we have been placing children from Colombia. Our agency works directly with Los Chiquitines, a privately-run child and baby home in Calí, Colombia. The children there receive excellent care. The facility is small and is staffed by full time caretakers, doctors and psychologists.
Ethiopia
	Spence-Chapin is currently pursuing Non-Governmental organization status (NGO) in Ethiopia. We are pleased to work in collaboration with Children's Home Society & Family Services. We support our adoptive families with a full range of services.
Guatemala
	With the exception of a short hiatus, Spence-Chapin has been working in Guatemala since 1996. The children are cared for in private foster care, and the program moves rapidly. The wait for referral after paperwork is submitted averages two months. Babies in this program are generally under a year. * * * PROGRAM ON HOLD * * *
Kazakhstan
	Our Kazakhstan program is open to married couples and single women and the requirements to adopt are relatively flexible. Both parents travel to Kazakhstan six to twelve months after submitting their paperwork, at which time they receive their referral and finalize the adoption. * * * PROGRAM ON HOLD * * *
Korea
	Spence-Chapin started working in Korea in 1975 and, since that time, has placed more than 2600 children. The children, who are generally up to 8 months of age, are cared for in loving foster homes before adoption. The medical system in Korea is known for its high quality and families receive extensive social and medical information about their children.
Russia
	Spence-Chapin is pleased to work in collaboration with two accredited partner agencies in Russia. We support our adoptive families with a full range of services, including home study preparation and post placement support.
Vietnam
	Spence-Chapin is supporting humanitarian efforts in Vietnam in collaboration with an accredited partnering agency. * * * We have temporarily suspended accepting new applicants for this program and hope it will be open again soon. * * *
