Adoptionship Funds

African-American Adoptionship

Spence-Chapin has been in the forefront of African-American adoption since the 1940s. Today, the agency provides one of the most respected infant adoption programs in the country. In 1991, Spence-Chapin's African-American Parents Advisory Committee established the Adoptionship Fund to help families facing financial constraints with the costs of adoption. The Committee felt that financial considerations should not prevent deserving people from becoming parents. To date, the Adoptionship has helped 127 babies join families of their own. Every dollar raised directly benefits babies waiting for a warm, loving home. Goal: $15,000

International Adoptionship

Spence-Chapin opened its first international adoption program in Korea in 1975. Today, the agency has programs in Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. In 1999, the International Parents Advisory Committee established an Adoptionship Fund to assist families facing unusual financial circumstances with the costs of international adoption. This fund has helped 39 children from nine countries come home to their forever families. Goal: $10,000
